I like the way that, in the last movement, all the players are smiling and making eye contact, really enjoying the dance of the music. Ms. Hahn, who was a dancer, is clearly communicating her own delight to the rest of the orchestra and conductor.
I also appreciate the choice of tempo - these are clearly dances. If you can't visualize people dancing to much of Bach's music, the tempo is probably too fast. It seems to be a common choice to play Bach a bit faster than the music suggests it ought to be played. Just because you can play fast, doesn't mean you should.

i'm watching this for the 732938 time and i have some things to say....
i don't even know how i did it, but i perfectly nailed the 1:01 jump in my last audition 🤠 (also my second audition in my entire life lol), i saw someone comment that this concert is hard, and i agree, at least for a beginner/intermediate like me. i can play the notes yeah (at this point i can play it by memory), but making it sound good as another person said, is difficult, because you have to be delicate but at the same time have the energy and strength so it doesn't sound "tasteless" or "meaningless", and that derives in having to phrase.
the concert... yes, it is easy, but for people that already have experienced all those things and can manage them without a problem so please don't try to convince me that for everyone is easy 😭 it was nOt

The conductor and the companion all play in harmony. This is actual mature version than the studio version, recorded at the earlier age off her. This version reduce the intensity and serious and express the calming aura. The acoustic of this hall is fantastic, nice blending make tone mellow and smooth without scarifying expressive. Perfect.

Exquisite control, compressed passion, gorgeous tone. Hillary soars. She feels the weight of every note and tempers its colour, expresses its joy or sadness and her bowing is both feminine and powerful, filled with a deep knowing of what every phrase has to tell. Her playing is so deeply melodic and nuanced that it leaves most other players in her shadow.

Hillary Hahn, you’re my favorite. I’ve been listening to you since I was a teenager. I poured my heart and soul into violin. Had to stop playing for the past nine years because our daughter has significant autism and the sound bothered her. This week she finally let me play again! I’ll never take violin for granted. My comeback piece is Bach’s Gigue from the 2nd Partita.
