"to measure colour space you need a bunch of expensive equipment...which I have just bought" Multiple manufacturers backsides just tightened. Nice work, this is taking it to another level.
This needs to be said. It is the BEST review of 4K projectors I've seen. Particularly the JMGO N1 Ultra. I really appreciate the hard work you put into it. Also the follow-up JMGO N1 Ultra post.
So, now I've had my N1 Ultra for a couple of weeks and LOVE it. The big question is SPECKLES! I am projecting on a slightly off-white matte wall and the only time I am aware of speckles is when I adjust the volume. A pure white square shows up then and you can see some speckles. Other than that, I am generally not aware of them from a seating distance of 9 feet viewing a 115" diagonal picture. Yes, I was nervous about this issue but after 2 weeks and maybe 30 hrs. of viewing I remain thrilled with this projector. Sharpness, beautifully saturated colors, and virtually perfect uniformity makes this a fabulous projector for watching your favorite video content. As far as I'm concerned, speckles are a non issue. Your results may vary depending on size, viewing distance, and screen used.
Unquestionably the most through projector comparison I’ve ever seen. I previously purchased the XGMI Horizon Pro based on your earlier review, and I am very happy with the performance. You can be sure I’ll use your channel as my primary reference before any future projector upgrades. Thank you for covering everything in such detail, your ability to communicate some of the more esoteric technical information is excellent
@@jdco8831 I’ve owned the XGIMI projector for four months. It has worked flawlessly. I have invited several friends and family members to watch action movies like James Bond and Mission Impossible. I’m projecting 1080P video from a Blu-ray player as I don’t own any 4k content. My screen is 120 inch that I bought from Wayfair for only $180. I use an older Pioneer 9.2 channel surround sound receiver. Even though everything in my viewing room is fairly low budget, everyone who has watched movies with me has been blown away by the experience. My only complaint so far with the XGIMI was that I started with a tabletop stand and it would get bumped and moved sometimes. The XGIMI projector recalibrates it’s focus and keystone automatically, but it bugged me having to reposition the stand when it got bumped. After about a month I bought a heavy duty wall mount for the projector ($140 from Amazon). Now the projector is always perfectly framed and out of the way. I honestly can’t imagine having to upgrade anything in my home theatre. The picture and sound are awesome. I guess maybe eventually I’ll add a 4k Blu-ray player, but I have no complaints about 1080p resolution. In fact even regular DVD’s look really good. I suppose my Blu-ray player probably upscales DVD’s to 1080p, and probably the XGIMI is then upscaling the 1080p to 4k. I haven’t really looked into what upscaling is going on because it just looks great. I also own an 1990’s laserdisc player which was the best available when it was new. I run it through an external upscaler too, and it looks really good projected by the XGIMI. Of course the quality of the 480k laserdiscs are inferior to DVD’s, but they are still totally watchable. (Now that I think about it, the XGIMI is probably upscaling the laserdiscs to 4k too?) When I compare old content like laserdiscs to DVD’s what I miss most in the old format is that the surround sound is not as good. So a few notes. I have played with the built in streaming a little on the XGIMI, and it seems to work great, but I don’t really use it much, my home theatre is all about watching movies from discs. For the same reason I don’t have an opinion about the XGIMI built in audio. It seems to be pretty capable with good amplification etc, but I am watching movies using a surround sound receiver that has 100 watts per channel, and a subwoofer. So no matter how good the XGIMI audio is, it would sound tinny compared to my receiver.

I've been watching you for a week now because I'm looking for an honest in depth technical review, and my..... goodness! All I have to say is absolutely well done my friend!! Please continue your work, for this is helping me greatly on deciding what projector to get. Thank you.
As I mentioned to you when we bumped into each other at CES Unveiled (and you were talking about your excitement/skepticism over the N1 Ultra), I'm continually impressed with your level of not only integrity, thoroughness and technical capabilities but also how understandable and relatable you make it all!
Hello! This is JMGO official. We hope you're doing well. We'd like to address your concerns about the "laser speckle" problem and provide more information. We've developed our patented "LSR technology" to minimize speckle on our N1 series projectors. The LSR module adjusts the passing laser beam with adaptive amplitude and frequency through a diffuser that vibrates at high speed along the XY axes. This technology ensures that your daily viewing experience won't be affected. JMGO has undergone extensive user testing before its release, and the vast majority of users do not report a speckle problem. We have sold a large quantity of this product in China and have received very few user reports of speckle problems. As Robert mentioned in previous comments, we reached out to him and believed that his issue was caused by a defective unit. We're confident that the mass production units will provide you with an outstanding audio-visual experience. We hope you have a great day!
@@JMGOProjector Hello, I don't fully understand the situation. So the jmgo n1 ultra in this video has a laser spot problem, is there any problem with the other products you sell? While I was researching to buy jmgo n1 ultra, I watched this video and the laser spot problem made me very unhappy so I started looking at other brands. Could you give detailed information about this subject? Also, you wrote that there are not many complaints about laser spots, so you get a few complaints about this issue, right?
@@JMGOProjector I dont know about that claim. Projector Central and Projector screens also indicated a high susceptibility of your Units to having that horrendous laser speckle issue. Although you mostly designed a nice machine, none of the top reviewers would put it in a "best of class" or highly recommended category. I used to have your projector as a most sought after device, but Im hearing too much about that issue. As Black Friday looms, I'm now considering one of your competitors units due to your company's reluctance to address this issue and add Dolby Vision as a firmware upgrade. What a shame and waste of a fine effort.
Great content. I bought the xgimi Horizon Pro thanks to your research last year and am loving it! I really appreciate your independent testing and your efforts in holding the manufacturers accountable for their claimed specs, this is definitely the magic sauce to your channel sir!!!
I'm just searching for the Top 4k Projectors in 2023 but instead got a comprehensive lesson on a Home Theater Projection and System as well. You sir, earned my like and subscription to your channel. Thanks and Great Job!! 👌👌😃
After being out of the projector scene for a long time, this was the best & most thorough review I could have hoped for. Easy to understand & in lay terms. Seeing how inflated the companies tout their projectors was eye opening, really appreciated!
This has to be one of the most extensive reviews and comparisons I've ever watched! Amazing as usual keep up the good work! Hope JMGO can fix the laser speckle issue
In this price range, the JMGO N1 Ultra is still hands down the best 4k smart projector currently on the market. Best picture, best brightness, best contrast, best gimbal based adjustments, no clunky stands to lug around. It's triple color laser projects a crystal clear 200" image directly on my matte wall, no screen needed, with the curtains all up in a bright and sunny open space livingroom. Picture quality looks so close to my LG C3 65" oled tv it's actually insane. I've had it for 4 months now from Amazon. I have not seen a single laser speckle.
I’m watching this in my bedroom on an LG UST 720p LED projector I bought for $400 a couple years ago. It’s perfect and I have no plans to replace it any time soon.
I know, i think i have the same, it was rated for 20.000 hours of use.... The image is very good, but i would care for a 4k model a bit brighter. But all shown products are filled with useless features (in my opinion), are BIG and 3x the price !
What is the input lag on the BenQ GP500 outside of game mode with all the options that improve the displayed image, especially its smoothness, enabled? I like to customise the picture option myself, and game mode usually limits this and disables most of the set options.
Around 125ms with MEMC and Dynamic contrast on. You can use some keystoning and still stay under 50ms, but I wouldn't recommend using MEMC with gaming.
@@TheHookUp I wanted the image to look even better hence my idea to use the MEMC function, but as you can see this is not the best idea. I currently have a Xgimi Horizon Pro projector, is it worth replacing it with a BenQ GP500?
Great work as always, your comparison videos are always the best. I’m not in the market for this type of product at all but watched all the way through because of the level of detail and research done, I learned stuff I didn’t even know I needed to know!
Impressive! I cannot believe this review done by a single person. Do you believe JMGO's laser issue will be all of their product or just one that you got? Have you talk to them like you got a replacement from BenQ?
I've spoken with them and they are going to send me a replacement and I'll send mine back to them for internal testing. However, they are prioritizing Kickstarter deliveries first, so it may be a little while before I have the replacement.
Bravo! This is the most detailed projector comparison I've ever seen. Your'e amazing. Count me in for future videos. Cnet and others can learn from you.
Bummer to hear about the laser speckle problem on the JMGO N1Ultra. I wish I had seen this review before I had sponsored the Kickstarter campaign. Crossing my fingers that the new projectors that are shipped out from the Kickstarter campaign will have improved laser speckle performance. Great job on your review!
The good thing about the Kickstarter purchase is you have 7 days to review the product. They will even cover the cost of shipping if you would like a refund.
Amazing depth and dependable information as always. Would love to see a price range around $500 - $800 USD comparison this would be a good quality TV of decent size but obviously not projector big but this is where most people spend when wanting a good TV before jumping up a serious price bracket. Your reviews are amazing and you have covered low price, next bracket up from low price, then higher end. I guess what is the best projector for a room with natural light some but not full sun for the lowest price point? the Nexigo pj40 looks great I just wonder how it holds up when adding another $200 to the competition options. Keep up the amazing work keen to see if anyone else thinks the same on next potential video
Great review. I much prefer reviews that are not opinion based but rather based on industry standard measurement scores vs quoted product spec. This might be a dumb question but is there a standard way to measure laser speckle? It seems to have had a big impact on viewing satisfaction. Unfortunately these products are not within my budget. I'll be looking out for a review of some $500-800 mid-priced range portable projectors based on the new testing techniques including Anker Nebula Capsule 3 (already reviewed?), Xgimi Mogo 2 Pro, Dangbei Neo, Xgimi Elfin, etc.
Btw, I used N1 Ultra both as living room &portable projector due to it’s smart design. It’s good enough for home theatre and will hands down beat any portable projectors.
Super impressive and exhaustive review and comparison video! I can tell a TON of work went into this, and it is very much appreciated. Definitely helped me make my purchase decision and I'll make sure to use your affiliate link so you get a commission, accordingly!
Good video. Yours and Mr. Hibbert's projector videos have convinced me to move from TV/monitors to projector and screen. Audio could be sourced via the projecter's audio output to an amplifier and ceiling speakers, so audio is not important for me. Therefore, I need to choose mainly on picture quality. I've realised new projectors last longer than old globe projectors. I've also learned saving up for quality items like EVs and projector/screens is inexpensive over the long term compared to lower upfront cost items which have a higher short term cost.
Great review, but in all fairness, in the USA the Formovie X5 is listed at 2,450 lumens (using the CIVA standard) and not the 4,500 ANSI lumens that the Alibaba listing showed.
Yep, I think CVIA is going to be a huge benefit for consumers moving forward. Looking forward to being able to accurately judge projector performance based on a product page.
Awesome review!!! I'm waiting on the Jmgo from kickstarter. Have they said the product was faulty? If you receive another unit, will you do a separate review?
great content, straight to the point and no boring unnecessary introduction and talk. tho most of the projectors you reviwed are currently out of stock. i think you've been selling these out 😂😂😂
After watching many other reviews on the JMGO N1 Ultra, I think you got a bad copy. None of the other reviewers mention that problem, nor does its show up in their videos. But it's VERY noticeable on your demos. Being that the N1 Ultra would be the best projector by far of this roundup if it weren't for the laser speckle, I think it would be worth reaching out to JMGO for a new unit to review. Thanks for your efforts! Just subscribed!
I hope so, however there were a few things I noticed in other reviews: 1) several of them were using UST specific CLR screens instead of long throw screens which will significantly change picture quality. 2) On most if their footage you can see the DLP scan lines, which indicates they may be using lower quality cameras to record, which could also cover up the speckle. I can 100% make the speckle disappear in footage by adjusting camera settings, but I wanted to accurately represent what I could see in person.
@@TheHookUp Lots of variables for sure when looking at recorded video on RUclips. Hopefully I’ll receive my N1 Ultra projector soon and see for myself. From the intense amount of speckles I can see from your video, it’s hard to imagine that a manufacturer would let that go as passable, especially when they have put so much effort into making the N1 Ultra a high performance success. If the projectors they’re about to ship have this same speckle problem, they are going to see a lot of returns.
Great review, I also noted that other videos used UST screens with the N1 ultra which did not make sense, I wonder was this a deliberate ploy to reduce the speckle issues, I am waiting on my unit, I do hope you received a faulty unit.....
@@nitro200flyer3 I’m in the same boat. But I’m betting that this one reviewer simply had a bad copy. Either that or ALL the other reviewers don’t observe with a critical eye (something they’re professing to engage) or are dishonest, both of which seems highly unlikely to me. But a short time will tell.
@@bentonpix Thanks for the reply but I'm thinking the other reviews are probably paid endorsements. Could be a $$ grab by JNGO after all why such a short return window of only 7 days? and let's see how hard that will be to accomplish
Working my way through all your videos on projector. That formovie v10 is ideal for spouse approval factor for me, just need a ust version... I think I realize I'm not ready yet for projector purchase been fun watching these and living vicariously through your videos of what it would be like to have a projector
Hi, I have to change my old xgimi H1. I was thinking of getting the Xgimi 4k, but the Formovie X5 seems to be better than it on all points. The audio part is important for me, with the Xgimi H1, I am obliged to lower and increase the sound according to the moment (dialogue, action scenes with noises and louder music). So I hesitate for my choice.
Based on your recommendation I got an open-box X5 from Amazon for about $1200 and just received it today. It is astonishing! Whisper quiet, bright as the sun itself, and the focus adjustment is incredible. I’ll be ceiling mounting mine, but this would be a great table top projector. As it stands, it’s the best long throw projector I’ve ever seen. I own the Formovie T1, but have to sell as the new house doesn’t have a good setup for a UST. The X5 isn’t as good, but it’s literally half the price and I would say 80% of the PQ. Contrast is much closer than I would have guessed based off measurements. The T1 is 3000:1 and the X5 is 1000:1, but I think perhaps the black floor is lower. Amazing channel, basically the only person in all of A/V I trust at this point. PS I used your Amazon link!
I usually don't watch other people video projectors review because it' not my thing. But the N1 Ultra cough my eyes during this review and i wanted to check if other had your issue. Latency is very important to me, and i'm subject to rainbow effect a lot. I was highly disturbed to find A LOT of video from "reviewer" that does nothing more than read the spec on the box and go "Hooo, HAaaa ! wooo !" ... I just go lucky to fall on you years ago and not those way less trustables personne.
Okay I received my JMGO N1 yesterday. I am so happy to report that it has a very nice picture No laser speckle whatsoever I'm coming from an Epson 5030 UB This is an big upgrade picture quality amazing brightness I'll be the first to admit it's not 4000 lumens but about 20% brighter than my 2400 lumens Epson 5030 UB My guess is like 3000 Not to mention that my Epson had a bulb so it degrades from the minute you turn on I could never go the 3,500 hours they suggested usually about $2,800 I would change the bulb another $200 down the drain if this projector lasts for as long as they say and the brightness stays the way it is I'll be ecstatic I just wanted to comment because I've been so worried about the laser speckle You must have received a bad one I'm really happy with this projector for the price that I paid $1,200 bucks It is way better than anything I've ever owned This could be my TV for the next 10 years .
@@Jpperera1 What size screen are you using? I have a 110 inch Silver Ticket Products 16:9 Format, 110" Diagonal, Grey Material STR-169110-G I'm now trying to find just the white material for this screen because I placed a white board in the frame and it looks even better then the gray with minimal loss in the black levels this N1 has so many adjustments that you sure can dial the picture in to close to perfection, The black levels rival the Epson 5030UB . No crossing my fingers that this lazer will last the 20K hours they promise with out any degradation in brightness.
The only honest projector reviewer you can find on YT. Non of other so called "reviewers" answered to my questions about color accuracy of JMGO N1 Ultra,. It's a shame, that this comparison was made after I already purchased it by Kickstarter. I'll try to cancel the pledge and get refund. Keep up the good work 👏👏👏
As far as I know JMGO is offering a 7 day satisfaction guarantee period with full refund, so no reason to cancel before you get your unit and see if you like it.
I’d like to say your videos are beyond helpful and the quality is top notch. The only feedback I have is rainbow effect testing would be a great addition. I’m definitely sensitive to it but it’s very hard to find information on which projectors have it and to what degree of severity.
Wow, thanks for the massive amount of work on testing and reviewing these! I was part of the JMGO N1 Ultra kickstarter, and I wish it had your recommendation - however, I am EXACTLY the caveat/use case that you outlined for it, so yay! I'm going to be pointing this at my ceiling because of my living circumstances, and I absolutely needed that gimbal functionality (otherwise there is a world of other projectors at this price range that I could have already picked up). Thanks again for the video!
Hi!We are delighted that you have chosen our JMGO N1 Ultra, and we hope you continue to enjoy the ceiling mode of it. I believe It adds a lot of fun to your experience! Have a great day😀
Awesome stuff! Question: Should I get one of these "lifestyle" projectors, or go with a traditional form factor like Epson Home Cinema 5050? I'm looking to get my first projector for a daylight basement living room with blackout curtains and a 120"-130" fixed screen. My projector budget is $2-3k. Portability is not necessarily a primary factor for me, although I might find it to be a benefit in the future for some occasional scenarios. I also plan to mount it on ceiling, or the back wall, so that my toddler doesn't disturb it. I'm new to this so I don't know what I'm giving up if I go with these "lifestyle" models vs traditional form factor. Thank you, you are my most trusted source!
The 5050 is a great first projector, but it shines as a dedicated home theater projector. It’s also very big, has no built in speakers so again, it’s best for dedicated spaces with a sound system.
Rob, Why do you think there isn't more attention given to the Benq GP500, which despite its low lumen count, is your pick for the most cinematic, color accurate projector in your lifestyle projector shootout . Also given that the price has dropped significantly, AFTER Black Friday; currently at $1K on Amazon. It seems like it would be even more of a steal than your budget favorite, the Dangbei Mars Pro 4K. For 4k portable projectors in the under $1200 price category would you now consider the GP500 to be the best non-Dolby Vision 4k image and best budget buy lifestyle projector? Thoughts?
Phenomenal content, as always. Very thoughtful explainer on what color gamut/spec means. As much as people (even myself) would clamor for "post professional calibration measurements" it would make a minuscule subset of all potential real-world users. The juice isn't worth the squeeze. I would like to know if you attempt minor color correction within the menus prior to viewing (ala, color temperature etc.). If so, could/should(?) you measure brightness on the best "viewing modes" vs just the brightest modes? I have found in my own case that some projectors have bright picture scenes, but they're unwatchable even after color adjustments. Is that true here as well?
I have Formovie X5 projector connected to my pc and just a week ago realised it can output real 4k (4096x2160/60hz). Don't know if it was there all the time or if it came with the last software update.
Great review. Since you have the equipment. Can you calibrate the JMGO in its brightest mode and report the contrast, brightness and color delta once calibrated?
@@TheHookUpas a photographer and visualisation artist with 30 years of experience, I felt that JMGO could be easily matched to the source image using the built-in calibration tools which seemed abundant. But I'd definitely like to see you try and post the results after calibration.
Eagerly awaiting this follow up, would you be able to share your calibration settings somewhere for all us new N1 owners once you do? You are the bomb!
Great comparison review as usual! Did you contact JMGO about the speckle? Could it be a faulty unit or is this a common thing with tri-laser projectors? Thank you.
@@TheHookUphey Robert, I received my JMGO N1 Ultra today. I have been testing it on an Akia fixed frame white projector screen. I haven’t noticed any speckle at all. But I am no expert. In any case, my viewing experience has been great so far - the only issue is that sometimes the OS is kind of slow. Did you experience something like this with your unit? However it is just a small nuance. I am very pleased with the projector!
@@TheHookUp I'm pretty sure of that, your reviews are always unbiased. Regarding the laggy interface, I just updated the OS and problem fixed. Overall, I think it is a fantastic projector for the price (even better that I paid early kickstarter backer price).
What do you mean Jmgo n1 "has laser speckle" ? in 23:00 sec, it is a shaking screen or noise on single color in big area ? I have XGIMI H2 and my screen have also a lot of noise and I'm thinking is this the same effect or worser ? 🤔
I've looked at the screen calculator on projectorcentral and according to it, the BenQ GP500 and Formovie X5 won't fill a 161" diagonal screen. My screen is high gain and I have 18.5 ft. to the rear wall. I's like to keep the projector at close to it as possible with a high mount. Can either of those projectors properly fill & focus on a 161" screen with a lens to screen minimum of 17 ft.? I don't require a lot of gain in my light tight room.
Really love to see you review a Wanbo projector which is one of the cheapest and most widely available projectors in Asia. Models like t6 max, t2 max, t4 and x1 mini.
So frustrating how manufacturers are still essentially lying about such things as ANSI lumens which are supposed to be a completely standard way to convey brightness. Which makes your videos all the more helpful when trying to decide on an option. I can understand being within 90% of claimed brightness but when you start getting to the 50-60 percent of advertised it just starts to feel very disingenuous.

I couldn't wait for your review on these New projectors , finally a TRUSTABLE reviewer!!!!!! WITHOUT BS!!
I'm just searching for the Top 4k Projectors in 2023 but instead got a comprehensive lesson on a Home Theater Projection and System as well.
You sir, earned my like and subscription to your channel.
Thanks and Great Job!! 👌👌😃
„Getting Pizza Grease on your iPad and moving your head around“ is such a good description and I knew immediately what it looks like
After being out of the projector scene for a long time, this was the best & most thorough review I could have hoped for. Easy to understand & in lay terms. Seeing how inflated the companies tout their projectors was eye opening, really appreciated!
Data driven no nonsense. Thanks for the work. Seems like you have fun geeking out too. I'd enjoy having my hands on these and benchmarking them.
This has to be one of the most extensive reviews and comparisons I've ever watched! Amazing as usual keep up the good work! Hope JMGO can fix the laser speckle issue
aún sin solucionar el problema del todo y ni en el Jmgo N1 pro, pero ya todos tienen 3D disponibles.
I am so happy with the news of the JMGO N1 Ultra!
It will be my first projector....
How did you get that from the video? Its absolute crap and not recommended to buy.
@@Booyamakashi why not recommended?
It's a good projector.
As someone who just got a projector and loves it, this is the channel
I'm going to start referring people to your projector reviews. You're next level.
Thanks Joe!
JMGO support is outstanding. Engineers(hardware/software) engaged in email support working out issues. Amazing
Most underrated channel on RUclips
I’m watching this in my bedroom on an LG UST 720p LED projector I bought for $400 a couple years ago. It’s perfect and I have no plans to replace it any time soon.
I know, i think i have the same, it was rated for 20.000 hours of use.... The image is very good, but i would care for a 4k model a bit brighter. But all shown products are filled with useless features (in my opinion), are BIG and 3x the price !
Some people just wanna be on youtube and some actually want to be helpful and earn viewers. Shoutout to you, always great vids
Danke!
Im so glad I found your channel, this is the video I have been searching for. Best projector comparison on youtube by far! 👍
Man, your videos are top notch! One of the best RUclipsrs in this category. Way to go!
this aint a review but journalism. my only go to projector reviewer !
Fantastic job and the calibration equipment to show the true capabilities of these projectors is invaluable!
@@TheHookUp Which projector will offer me the smoothest image with acceptable input lag? The projector will mainly be connected to a PlayStation 5.
What do you mean by smooth? DLP chips running at 1080p120hz should be buttery smooth without MEMC on.
@@TheHookUp I wanted the image to look even better hence my idea to use the MEMC function, but as you can see this is not the best idea. I currently have a Xgimi Horizon Pro projector, is it worth replacing it with a BenQ GP500?
@@_AbstrAct If your goal is to reduce input lag, then yes, if your goal is brighter/sharper then no.
I participated in the Kickstarter for the JMGO N1 and when i saw your review come up i was like "oh crap. Moment of truth". Hahaha.
Great work as always, your comparison videos are always the best. I’m not in the market for this type of product at all but watched all the way through because of the level of detail and research done, I learned stuff I didn’t even know I needed to know!
4 out of five products reviewed were in my shortlist. Better yet my personal favorite got selected in the end. Excellent video.
You covered everything - price, noise, picture quality, sound and even what you personally use. This video is perfect!
Thanks!
You are crazy for this one. Hopefully we get a new round of budget reviews with all your new equipment and practice.
@@TheHookUp I see. Sound reasonable. Thank you so much!
Holy crap thank you very much for your work. I learn so much from you. The tricks manufacturers pull on us are crazy.
man... you seem to outdo yourself with every video... amazing amount of work. thanks for creating and sharing this!
Bravo! This is the most detailed projector comparison I've ever seen. Your'e amazing. Count me in for future videos. Cnet and others can learn from you.
Great Job. Best home portable projector benchmark I've seen so far.
This video should have more than 100k views, great work.!!
@JoelsterG4K Did you not notice laser speckle on your review unit?
@Phillip Aleman No not at all.
Btw, I used N1 Ultra both as living room &portable projector due to it’s smart design.
It’s good enough for home theatre and will hands down beat any portable projectors.
I’m looking at the n1 ultra or the for movies x5 for around house and outside by the pool

My go to man on Projector period
I enjoy the format of this video . Gain good information for my upcoming projector upgrade .
Thanks . Keep it up 😊
great content, straight to the point and no boring unnecessary introduction and talk. tho most of the projectors you reviwed are currently out of stock. i think you've been selling these out 😂😂😂
After watching many other reviews on the JMGO N1 Ultra, I think you got a bad copy.
I hope so, however there were a few things I noticed in other reviews:
1) several of them were using UST specific CLR screens instead of long throw screens which will significantly change picture quality.
In a dark room would you recommend Formovie x5 or Formovie Theater UST projector? Let’s assume I can place both to create a 150in screen.
Big big big props for how detailed you go on this
Based on your recommendation I got an open-box X5 from Amazon for about $1200 and just received it today.
X5 is awesome, glad you like it!
At 13:15 the images of dangbei and formovie x5 are swapped ?
I usually don't watch other people video projectors review because it' not my thing.
But the N1 Ultra cough my eyes during this review and i wanted to check if other had your issue. Latency is very important to me, and i'm subject to rainbow effect a lot.
I was highly disturbed to find A LOT of video from "reviewer" that does nothing more than read the spec on the box and go "Hooo, HAaaa ! wooo !" ...
I just go lucky to fall on you years ago and not those way less trustables personne.
You do such an awesome job! I love your content!
Wow! I've enjoyed this.. Thanks for being honest really. I really appreciate your work.
Thank you so much for these videos
Best review of these on YT.
Okay I received my JMGO N1 yesterday. I am so happy to report that it has a very nice picture No laser speckle whatsoever I'm coming from an Epson 5030 UB This is an big upgrade picture quality amazing brightness I'll be the first to admit it's not 4000 lumens but about 20% brighter than my 2400 lumens Epson 5030 UB My guess is like 3000 Not to mention that my Epson had a bulb so it degrades from the minute you turn on I could never go the 3,500 hours they suggested usually about $2,800 I would change the bulb another $200 down the drain if this projector lasts for as long as they say and the brightness stays the way it is I'll be ecstatic
I just wanted to comment because I've been so worried about the laser speckle You must have received a bad one I'm really happy with this projector for the price that I paid $1,200 bucks It is way better than anything I've ever owned This could be my TV for the next 10 years .
Same here!!! 5030 to the N1 haha
You are the ultimate reviewer!! Thank you so much
The only honest projector reviewer you can find on YT.
That was post calibration dE, not out of the box.
@@TheHookUpThat's probably good idea. Thanks for reply & advice 👍

Which option is better to buy in 2024 - XGIMi HORIZON Pro or JMGO N1?
Great video, kudos! What would be the distance from a 120" screen for the X5 and the N1 Ultra?
Thanks for a great in depth review. Just received the X5 and really pleased with it. Chinese os not an issue when using Firestick. Very good value
I got one v10 and it's amazing

Rob,
Why do you think there isn't more attention given to the Benq GP500, which despite its low lumen count, is your pick for the most cinematic, color accurate projector in your lifestyle projector shootout .
You deserve all that is good and holy in this life.
Amazing vid as usual!
Most reliable review yet again!!
Sure, might be a couple of days before I can get to it, reply to this message if I forget.
Was going to ask the same thing. If it can be calibrated, that could make it really interesting.
@@TheHookUp I'll be waiting for your reply to see if I'll buy the BenQ or the JMGO.

EXCELLENT comparison and review. I ordered the JMGO N1 Ultra early on from Kickstarter and am expecting it in the next few weeks.

well done test sir! thank you very much, helped a lot. 👍🥇
Great comparison review as usual! Did you contact JMGO about the speckle? Could it be a faulty unit or is this a common thing with tri-laser projectors?
Thank you.
I did, once they ship out to KS backers they are going to ship me a new unit and I'll return the one I have to them for internal testing.
@@TheHookUp so did they tell you that this is not a common issue and that you might have a defective unit?
@@TheHookUphey Robert, I received my JMGO N1 Ultra today. I have been testing it on an Akia fixed frame white projector screen. I haven’t noticed any speckle at all. But I am no expert. In any case, my viewing experience has been great so far - the only issue is that sometimes the OS is kind of slow. Did you experience something like this with your unit? However it is just a small nuance. I am very pleased with the projector!
Thats good news. I’m definitely not rooting against them. As far as a laggy interface, I didn’t notice that.
@@TheHookUp I'm pretty sure of that, your reviews are always unbiased. Regarding the laggy interface, I just updated the OS and problem fixed. Overall, I think it is a fantastic projector for the price (even better that I paid early kickstarter backer price).
Phenomenal review thank you so much!!
What do you mean Jmgo n1 "has laser speckle" ? in 23:00 sec, it is a shaking screen or noise on single color in big area ? I have XGIMI H2 and my screen have also a lot of noise and I'm thinking is this the same effect or worser ? 🤔
I think I did a pretty thorough job explaining it and showing it at 13:28. XGIMI H2 is an LED projector and would not exhibit laser speckle.
@@TheHookUpsure, you did.
i am waiting for my N1 Ultra
I've looked at the screen calculator on projectorcentral and according to it, the BenQ GP500 and Formovie X5 won't fill a 161" diagonal screen. My screen is high gain and I have 18.5 ft. to the rear wall. I's like to keep the projector at close to it as possible with a high mount. Can either of those projectors properly fill & focus on a 161" screen with a lens to screen minimum of 17 ft.? I don't require a lot of gain in my light tight room.
best review ever... we love you man.... thanks for the content
Really love to see you review a Wanbo projector which is one of the cheapest and most widely available projectors in Asia. Models like t6 max, t2 max, t4 and x1 mini.
Thanks Man!!! I love projectors...
Dude thank you so much for these amazing job
Awesome review and breakdown. Thanks man!
I think the CVIA lumen change is going to be very good for the consumer. Formovie claims the X5 is 4500 ANSI lumens, but 2450 CVIA lumens.
@@TheHookUp interesting thanks for the reply and great content!
