Technically you can.
But to do that, you need to bundle the humidifier with an Air Conditioner.
AC sucks moisture from air > expels water
Humidifier evaporates water > puts water into air
Combine the two and you can have an endless loop of water, coupled with the water from your breathing and IWL (insensible water loss, basically small amount of water loss from sweat evaporating, skin/scalp drying, uncovered water in the room evaporating ETC).

@@JustJustKen Sorta? It's just the conservation of mass (or, in more generalized but also anime-related terms, the law of equivalent exchange). You'd basically be extracting water from one area and putting it in another area. Now, using an AC would probably be a bad idea, so the ideal would be either connecting it directly to an existing water source (so you don't need to put water in yourself; also easier engineering-wise) or extracting air moisture from the outside(?).

Quite a few companies are realizing that hiring a social media manager with a fun sense of humor can end up becoming both great PR and great advertisement at the same time. Life can be serious and harsh enough as it is, so it's always endearing to see when big corporations are willing to loosen up just a little bit and have some fun with their job. (Obviously, there's still a limit where it can become too unprofessionnal, but examples where that limit is crossed are relatively rare)

121000 yen is honestly a fair price. There are more expensive models out there, and the money that goes into this definitely also serves to help COVER and Miko's PR.
Certainly if you compare it to the price of the base model that is at 97.800 yen - of course if you compare it against price for base model at retailers then the difference can double, but 150€ upsell for an already-pricey model is not peanuts, but certainly in the "kinda expected that" range.

@@eclyphh I'm no expert on humidifiers/purifiers, but at least the sharp units available here are in a similar priceclass (and the price includes tax). Of course there are also much cheaper units from other manufacturers, so I guess the best comparison is with Dyson. You can get a Dyson hairdryer for $400 but also a simple no-name one for $20 - the Dyson one is probably better in every aspect, but is it 20x better?…
I primarily wanted to put the base-price of the non-Miko-version of the unit into consideration - it is not a "$500 sticker" ontop a cheap unit. Of course whether you believe you need the "plasmacluster next" (Sharp's fancy name for their top-line ionization based air purification) or whether you're fine with a filter based one or one that's just bubbling the air through water... It is arguably better, and Sharp had it proven to be effective against the "cause of the pandemic" amongst other things, but it is definitely a high-end/luxury item. (a base model, with a lower-tier version of the plasmacluster is around 15000¥). So think of it as a Dyson vacuum/hairdryer. Some part is paying for the actual tech, some part is paying for the established name/prestige/presumed quality (i.e. You can get similar quality for way less money, but do you want to take that risk?)

I recall saying something along the lines of: "If Sharp decides to do a collaboration with Miko, it would be marketing genius." Not only did Sharp go through with a real collaboration (i.e. the Mikochi Edition Humidifying Air Purifier), they pulled off this hilarious marketing (apology) stunt. This marketing beyond genius on Sharp's part, it's "Elite Genius".
I live in an area where I don't need a humidifier, but if I ever needed one, I would totally get a Mikochi itasha humidifier that sometimes yells at me.
