Erotica for donors?
Posted 3 years agoI recently made a few changes to my Ko-fi, setting up membership tiers with different rewards. While slightly succesful (I even have someone already pledged [exciting stuff!]) I wonder if there's a better way to make pledging appealing even for folks who can't afford to commission a story outright.
That's when a roleplay partner of mine gave me the idea to just write erotica shorties for membership tiers. He suggested I "would say try with what works best for you to begin with. It seems that humanoids, elves, are the softest spot and you seem to like the humanoid members even on anthros. If you get known for writing what you don't like, people will think you an imposter once you start doing what you're good at. I say start with nubile elf boys and big strong anthros with chunie-like dicks, perhaps. :) Just a few quickies, get your eye in and see if anyone bites. Possible gateway could be to write a small series about an elfin lad pleasing a number of anthro men. Then you have a very consistent sort of 'thread' that if people are desperate for attention from, can throw money at to get your trademark oc to slurp their dicks."
The question is, then... Will that work? Will people want to read and perhaps donate small amounts in order to keep stories like that going? It's a complete deviation from my usual stuff in terms of commissioning but maybe (with university started and all that) it would make it easier for me to continue creating and getting support?
What do you think? Send me a message or just comment your ideas as I am looking to branch out and see what can happen.

Moving back
Posted 3 years agoIt seems that life has a funny way of bringing us back to where we started. When I made that journal entry about a transition to more SFW materials, I didn't expect my mother to get very, very sick and my family was forced to make a substantial investment in her health and safety.
So here I am... Writing smut for you all again. Mind you, prices aren't going to go any lower; and I still intend on writing SFW material. Expect erotica to cost a little more than regular stories.

Moving on
Posted 3 years agoI know that this is going to be an unpopular opinion and decision but I genuinely believe that erotica is a stagnant genre. There is no fun for me in the concept, no awe-inspiring twists at the end. It's always the same, constant thing and with all due respect to my fellow writers who indulge in the genre, it isn't exactly what I want to be doing for the rest of my career.
I stand by my decision.

Sponsorships
Posted 3 years agoI recently got my COVID vaccination and it is wiping the floor with me. It's not a case of feeling like I have the flu or anything of the sort; I just have a deadweight where my left shoulder used to be.
Luckily, I am going to be shaking things up on the upcoming commission date (Tuesday 10th) by opening the floor to sponsorships. The way sponsorships work is that people can pay a drastically reduced price for a story but instead of getting to call the shots and dictate how it flows, they simply get it for free once it's done.
The story at present is as follows: A London banker travels to post-isolationism Japan and tries to ingratiate himself with the Emperor in order to set a foothold for his own trading venture. While there, he finds himself mired in courtly intrigue, romance, murder, and the remnants of the shogunate who are eager to see the samurai reinstated as the political figureheads of the empire.
Sounds pretty cool, right? The idea is for it to be a 10k story that sets off a whole series of chapters that people can either sponsor for 10 euros and get for free once it's done OR they can wait until it goes up on sale and get it for 15 euros on my seller sites.
So far, my patrons seem excited about this so why not give it a try? Sponsorships will be open the entire month of August and the story will be delivered on the 1st of September.

Unwanted guests
Posted 3 years agoIt isn't a strange part of life to sometimes have people come into your room when you don't want them there. Could be parents reminding you of chores when you're younger, could be siblings wanting to spend some time with you while you're working on projects.
In my case, it could be the biggest velutine wasp (aka murder hornet) I have ever had the misfortune of laying eyes upon. There i was, minding my own business, working on some commissions when I take my headphones off, grab my water jug and turn around in my chair in order to find myself face-to-face with the buzziest, most droning murder hornet I've ever seen.
One hell of a way to wake up, let me tell you all that much...

Profile update
Posted 3 years agoNever thought my years on F-list would lead me to put some coding knowledge into my writing career yet here I am. I admit, I hadn't thought too hard regarding the first impressions of prospective clients upon first visiting my profiles and now I am acutely aware of what a sloppy profile can lead people to think.
It is said you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but that doesn't really apply here, does it? People already judge writing in a somewhat harsher light due to the lack of flashiness to it. Visual art is easier due to the appeal, but harder because of the sheer quantity of people working it. At least, that is my perspective on the matter.
Commissions open every week on Tuesday at 9:00 am GMT+1. All the information you may need is in my profile and please, do not hesitate to ask me directly.

On commissions and other such things
Posted 3 years agoIt find it strange that people actually enjoy writing enough to give money in exchange for stories. I've been writing for 10+ years now and decided to make my name as an artist and author after some good advice from my family (even though they have not a bastard clue who and what it is that I write for).
Gratitude is what I feel, mostly. That and awe at the generosity displayed by so many wonderful individuals here.

Starting off
Posted 3 years agoI understand that getting started can be a pretty scary thing. Right now, despite having tens of thousands of hours spent writing, creating and making things, I have to admit that asking people to pay for something I make feels like a very daunting step.
It's not that I lack confidence, just that my experience with comissions is relatively inconsequential compared to other writers here such as Amethyst Mare, for instance. A commission of 7,000 words net her 200 dollars according to one of my clients and yet I only ask for 30 dollars per 10,000 words. Granted, her own level of expertise is more proven than my own but still, having to compete with someone like that can freeze most starting writers in their tracks.
I won't quit though. Talk to me so we can hash something out, if you're reading this. I can assure you my material is worth it and far cheaper than most of the artists here.
Not because I'm bad, but because I understand how new and unproven I seem to be.
